Asbestos webinar attracts record audience.

Association of Project Safety (APS)In October 2018 asbestos consultancy, Global Environmental, teamed-up with licenced removals contractor, Clifford Devlin, to deliver a webinar which explored the commercial aspects of managing asbestos. The presentation which was broadcast over the web to members of the Association of Project Safety (APS) was entitled “How to Save a Small Fortune on Asbestos”.

“The presentation was a great success,” commented APS’ Communications & Executive Officer, Rebecca Eunson, “Two hundred and thirty eight attendees tuned-in which is a record for this type of APS online event.”

The one-hour session delivered by Fergus McCloskey of Global Environmental and Paul Scholes of Clifford Devlin, contained ten tips / trade secrets to help Quantity Surveyors, Cost Consultants and Project Managers to save costs on asbestos surveying, air testing and removals.

Topics covered included:

  • Ways to limit damage during surveys/removals
  • How to reduce overall costs by 30% as tax relief
  • What information to share with the consultant
  • How to provide more cost certainty
  • Methods to minimise survey exclusions and avoid ‘out of hours’ work
  • How Priority Risk Assessments and remediation specifications can reduce removal costs
  • Planning-in contingencies
  • Ways to reduce costs of air testing

Following the success of the webinar, Global Environmental and Clifford Devlin have agreed to deliver a series of roadshow-style events to APS Members across the UK next Spring. Half-day CPD presentations on various aspects of asbestos management will be arranged at seventeen venues between March and May 2019 including:
