Asbestos and You

The Health and Safety Executive have launched a campaign called Asbestos And You, targeting tradespeople, under the slogan Protect your future: take action this April.

The campaign reminds tradespeople that:

• Any job can potentially release lethal asbestos fibres
• You can’t see, smell, or feel the fibres
• Asbestos might be present in any building built or refurbished before the year 2000
• 5000 people a year die from past exposure to asbestos

The aim of the campaign is to help tradespeople avoid asbestos exposure. It includes a series of guides, advice and links to guidance.
